The ambulatory acquisition and monitorization of electrocardiograms (ECG) under not controlled conditions, is a practice of paramount importance in cardiology diagnosis nowadays. The ECGs are acquired while patients develop their normal life, using a portable device. The storage capacity of such devices usually ranges from 24 to 48 hours. ne systems used to perform this task are the so-called Holter systems. A Novel Expert System for Non-Invasive Liver Iron Overload Estimation in Thalassemic Patients

Expert Systems can integrate logic based often on computational intelligence methods and they are used in complex problem solving. In this work an Expert System for classifying liver iron concentration in thalassemic patients is presented. In this work, an ANN is used to validate the output of the L.I.O.MO.T (Liver Iron Overload Monitoring in Thalassemia) method against the output of the state-of-the-art method based on MRI T2 assessment for liver iron concentration. Staff shortages and an increasingly aging population are straining the ability of emergency departments to provide high-quality care. Moreover, there is a growing concern about the ability of hospitals to provide effective care during disaster events. Tools that automate patient monitoring would greatly improve efficiency, quality of care, and the volume of patients treated. Flat panel displays are ideal for demanding hospital and clinic applications like vital sign monitoring and bedside administration. They take up much less space than conventional monitors (CRT based) and can be wall-mounted, cart-mounted or used on a desk stand. User friendly interface demands easy to use input device, rotary position encoders and touch screen panels offers simplicity replacing bulky keyboards. Introduction Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease require help in daily life situations to increase their individual perception of security, especially under worsened medical conditions. Unnecessary hospital (re-)admissions and home visits by doctors or nurses shall be avoided. This study evaluates the results from a two-year telemedicine field trial for automatic health status assessment based on remote monitoring and analysis of a long time series of vital signs data from patients at home over periods of weeks or months. Analysis of the written handover process during shift changes within the hospital

This study assesses the ergonomic quality of a new writing format used for the written transmission of activity during a nurse’s handover in a hospital. This format called “targeted or focussed transmission” comes from a new prescription of hospital management designed to improve the written handover process. Our research focused on the information filtering process for each patient concerned by a shift handover.
